Since ATIO is the professional body in Ontario mandated by law (Association of Translators and Interpreters of Ontario Act, 1989) to certify translators and interpreters, ATIO certified translators have the statutory authority to provide "certified translation" of all kinds of documents for official purposes, including but not limited to:

Generally, "certified translation" of documents performed by ATIO certified translators of the right designation has legal validity on its own right without needing "notarization", unless otherwise specified. 

ATIO certified translators are designated official translation provider by most government entities including Ministry of Transportation (MTO), Ministry of Health and Long-term Care/OHIP, Ministry of Immigration and Citizenship (MIC), etc.
